R U F-ing Kidding me?

Chris Bowers brings us the news that Barack Obama will sit down with Fox News' Chris Wallace this Sunday.

I've been discussing this with other Barack supporters.  One of them said this might be OK - that it might be Barack's opportunity to redeem his disappointing showing at the ABC debate.  That if he can show that he can handle the hardest questions, he'll blow holes in Hillary's "I've been vetted" argument.

Wow.  That's such bullshit.

The purpose of this visit cannot be to play defense - he's got nothing he needs to prove to the moral deviants that run Fox.  No...  the only justifiable excuse to go on Fox is  confrontation.

(flip)

I've been hopeful - and won over by that hope -  that Obama's kumbaya new politics proves to be successful.  I want him to have such an incredible rapport with the electorate that he can move progressive legislation through sheer force of personality...

But...

Going to Fox to prove you can take their best shot is a fool's errand.  I don't care how much he hopes...  I don't care how confident he is in his ability to thrust and parry with Chris Wallace and the intellectual midgets at that network...  The fact is Fox is not going to bring the slightest modicum of good-faith to the table.  Hell, if Obama turns out to be too likable, they'll just run a crawler calling him "John McCain (R)" beneath his name.  (That's the slightest of exaggerations, as we all know).

Furthermore, going on Fox is a naked betrayal of principal.  He needs to be dancing with who brung him.  We successfully shut Fox out of the debate schedule, many of us have put skin and sweat in the game re: producing videos, confrontingFoxNews propagandists...  For Obama to pander to those scumbags now is a real splash of cold water.  It sure doesn't give me a lot of "hope" with regards to how he's gonna treat us if he takes the White House.

Ugh.  Once again, I almost feel safer with Republicans.  At least I know what I'm getting.

Ugh.  I should strike that last, but I'm tired, stressed with finals and sick of being kneed in the balls as soon as I begin to believe in a candidate.

Well...  I've been known to jump to conclusions.  To get too passionate, too quickly.  Hopefully, I'm wrong.  Hopefully, Obama is going on Fox to ask why Hannity spends close to 20 hours a week talking about Wright and Ayers...  Why O'Reilly and Wallace aren't holding McCain to the same standard they insist Obama should be held to re:  Wright/Hagee...  Maybe Obama will ask the rhetorical question:  what would Fox be saying if I left my wife after she was disfigured in a car accident?  What if I left her for a younger, prettier, rich woman whose fortune I relied upon to launch my political career?  What if I spent my entire life drawing gov't paychecks?  If I never did any real work in the private sector?

I know I'm dreaming at this point, but isn't this campaign all about hope?

Maybe I won't get it all, but I really am hopeful that Obama is going on Fox to make clear that they are a shit-stain on the media landscape.
